*yawn*

When it first came out 10 years ago t was awesome. The fact that they could get that kind of power was incredible. Now its just boring to me. I want to be impressed again, but 1) they didnt leave much room for upgrading and 2) their best shot at competing is to go hybrid, but Im equally bored by that. They need to innovate, and I just dont really see it happening with this.

Look at Koenigsegg, theyre the supercar company I view as most successful. They have huge amounts of room for improvement, and Christian is pushing the company towards it steadily, not quickly. The One:1 is cool, but the Regera has my complete attention. That is innovation and development coming to fruition for a company that set the bar high, but not so high they cant ever see significant gains over time progressively.

Bugatti set the bar so high, their decade old car is still a benchmark. How do you sit in a boardroom comfortably and say “clients will have a reason to want a new Bugatti,” when its going to be extremely difficult to raise the bar far enough for a client to really want that new car as an upgrade?

Are you surprised? The first one wasn't no beauty queen.

Pretty sure that’s a Lambo, dude.

No, really. It looks like a Lamborghini back here.

I’m gonna have to agree with your whole argument. Koenigsegg is 100% the best supercar company. Seems like every week CVK introduces some new innovation. The Regera has me in awe, a one speed transmission is both genius and insane at the same time.

I’d say Pagani is second best just because I love their traditional methods. I mean what other supercar company still requires you to mechanically adjust the shocks/springs?

Yes, Pagani is another company that’s way up there, because just like Koenigsegg, they’ve been around long enough to have developed their cars extremely well. They both do a huge amount of in house development, though each one has their specialties. Pagani and Koenigsegg don’t make their own engines, but they build some of the most stunning cars in the world.

If I had a top 10 list for supercars that defined the past 20 years, I’m hard pressed to say the Veyron would even be in the running for top 5. I’d probably stick it somewhere around 8/9/10. It’s not without it’s significance, but it’s been so static for so long. The Zonda was made for longer, and while they both have a million special versions, the Zonda saw engine upgrades and you can really look at Zondas over the years and see the progression. In 10 years of Veyrons there isn’t much difference between the first one and the last one. You can’t honestly tell me that in 10 years they couldn’t come up with anything that could have been improved and touted as significant.

I think the main thing that puts Pagani and Koenigsegg on top for me is the passion. You can see through their products that there’s still a strong passion for more than just speed. Unlike say Ferrari, the two companies view cars as art rather than just machines meant to go fast. Take the Huayra for example, it’s beautiful from every aspect, be it the turbine wheels or the polarizing interior.

Koenigsegg and Pagani don’t build their own engines but the companies that do build them are very well established companies. AMG makes a seriously great engine and it fits the character of the Huayra very well.

As for the Bugatti, when it was first released it was extremely impressive. I mean not a car could touch what the Veyron could do. But like you said, a decade into production and not a thing changed other than some cosmetic special editions. Sure the SuperSport gave a pretty big performance boost but the car was still quite stale in design and character.
